Opportunity
Due to ongoing and expected growth, the Shell Haven TIP Extension strategy identified a series of upgrades required for the Shell Haven Tanks. This is a continuation of that study with tanks T1360 and T1361 which shall remain in service to sustain the 4.5mln tons throughput per year in the long term and cope with the peak demand during summer period. These two tanks have an out of life currently estimated at the end of 2020 without any refurbishment/upgrades.
Scope
The scope of work is a duplicate of what has already been done for T-1341 and T-1343 in 2017/2018, such that these tanks would then be fully compliant with the Shell Aviation Fuel requirements (new fixed roof, full floor replacement, internal lining, floating suction and new water draw-off system).
Implementation Strategy:
- The local triangle reviewed and evaluated the overhaul of T1340 & T1341 and improved in several areas (OPS, HSSE and Engineering)
- Choose the right crane positions saved 6 weeks
- Tank support system designed by Idesa worked extremely well and saved 2 weeks
- Introduction of an access ramp into the bund saved more than 200 lifts by crane
- No scaffolding needed, coating contractor used MEWP (Mobile Elevating Working Platform)
- Saving the current foundation, no replacement needed
- Project completed on time and cost.
